About Valeria

This abstract pop art table top sculpture depicts flowers.

The whimsical and playful minimalist sculptures of Benny Katz have attracted international collectors. Katz focuses on form, volume and colour.
Each one of his delightful flower series is designed to convey a sense of balance and harmony. A former graphic designer, Katz likes to begin each piece by putting his idea on paper. That sketch is manipulated on a computer until he’s happy with the illustration. Each of the oval ‘flowers’ of Lorena is coated in a shiny reflective paint. The palette of purple, pinks, and deep blues is fresh and modern. Thin, blue-painted metal rods act as stems used to spot-weld the various pieces of this dynamic sculpture together.

"(The sketch)--It's the way to get closer to or uncover the vague impressions in my head." Benny Katz

Benny Katz was born in Brazil in 1973. His family emigrated to Israel in 1978. After graduating from the graphic design program at Technion in Tel Aviv in 2000, Katz pursued a career in commercial design. At the same time, he developed a practice in conceptual art, working in sculpture and painting. Katz’s artworks are exhibited in galleries in North America and are held in many private collections worldwide.
