Biography

Camilla Geary-Martin was born in Kingston, Ontario in 1954. She received her Graduate Diploma in Fine Art from the Toronto School of Art in 2004 followed by post-graduate studies in their Independent Studio Program. With a diploma in theatre arts, Camie worked for several years in theatre and sewed costumes for the National Ballet of Canada.

This life experience along with many others has informed her unique work as a sculptor in material, form and content. She has participated in Art Residences in China, Vermont and Banff and has exhibited her work in numerous solo, group and juried exhibitions including an invitational international art show in China. Geary-Martin is a member of the board of directors at the Sculptors Society of Canada. Her sculptures have been acquired as part of permanent collections at the Banff Centre and the Ontario Public Archives.

“For me, sculpture is about capturing something special, an emotion, an essence, a single moment in time. Making sculpture is very personal and intimate, a connection between me, the model and the clay.”
