Canada’s much celebrated pop artist, Charles Pachter displays his signatory humour in this patriotic rendition of a car tire. Canadian Tire is a national hardware store in Canada originally founded by two Toronto brothers in the 1920’s. Many Canadian kids including Pachter accompanied their parents to this store for everything from hockey skates to paint and car parts.Pachter’s tire is particularly patriotic as the treads are tiny red maple leaves; a witty nod to the national flag. A painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer and author, Pachter is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the Sorbonne-Paris. He has attained several international awards and honorary degrees. Pachter’s paintings are in public and private collections around the world.
