About It Was Fascination I Know 5/10
This pop art print is a portrait of Margaret Atwood created by Charles Pachter.Using brilliant colours, Charles Pachter pays homage to his long-time friend, Margaret Atwood. This fun Andy Warhol-like portrait of the internationally renowned Canadian writer—a serigraph (a fine print created by forcing ink through a stencil onto a silkscreen) shows Atwood sporting orange wings, a caterpillar ‘pen’ in hand—a clever reference to metamorphosis.
The colour palette--bright yellow, purple, black and pink is thoroughly modern. Pachter is a much-admired Canadian artistic polymath, his colourful contemporary artwork merges playful even irreverent elements with deeply iconic imagery. Edition 5 of 10.
“Life is full of serendipitous meetings; chance meetings and I was lucky enough to meet Margaret Atwood when we were both summer camp counsellors in the sixties. She became my muse and my mentor.” Charles Pachter
