About Lookout

The Canadian moose—majestic and proud is one of several images made famous by Charles Pachter. The beloved Canadian artist has become world-renowned for his clever, pop-art-inspired paintings that often feature this powerful image.
In this graphic blue-on-blue acrylic painting, the silhouette of a moose is seen standing on a ‘lookout’ that commands him a view of the nearby lake and distant mountains. Pachter credits a rare childhood encounter with a moose for inspiring his lifelong love of the Canadian animal.

“I was chosen to play a lost boy in a film about a boy who gets lost at the fair. It’s called, ‘Johnny at the Fair,’ and it is on youtube. It is very funny. 0:27 In the movie, I run around the fair and get lost but in the middle of it all, I get kissed by Barbara Ann Scott, shake hands with Prime Minister Mackenzie King and pet a moose!” Charles Pachter

Charles Pachter studied at the University of Toronto, the Sorbonne in Paris and at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in the USA.
