A portrait of a Canadian Mountie and his horse are the subject of this unique 1970 print (edition 1 of 1) by Charles Pachter. The title of the work refers to a French expression denoting the idea that nobility holds larger social obligations.

Graduate of University of Toronto and the Sorbonne-Paris, Charles Pachter is a leading contemporary Canadian artist. Pachter is a prestigious Officer of the Order of Canada, a Chevalier of France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and twice a recipient of the Queen's Jubilee medal. He has honorary Doctorate degrees from the Ontario College of Art & Design University, University of Toronto and Brock University. His paintings are in public and private collections around the world. Pachter is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, historian and author.
