About Concordant:Warmth

This contemporary glass wall sculpture is inspired by nature.

Cheryl Wilson Smith is an award-winning glass artist whose uniquely beautiful artwork is rooted in her love of nature. Wilson Smith lives in Northern Ontario—a rugged landscape known for its towering ancient trees, its crystal clear rivers and lakes, and its rocky outcrops. It is this land that informs her work.
Concordant is a new series of striking wall pieces—made from fine layers of glass frit (ground glass), the vertical form in a deep orange red; its visible texture emulates the natural strata or field stone.

“I really like the definition of Concordant--a geological term for strata that align or flow together. Also, harmony or agreement, two forms make one the strength of two, when we are bound together.” Cheryl Wilson Smith

Cheryl Wilson Smith was the 2014 winner of the RBC Award for Glass through the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. Wilson-Smith has received nine grants from the Ontario Arts Council and one from the Canada Council. Commissions include the Red Lake District Heritage Centre, Margaret Cochenor Memorial Hospital Donor wall. Her work has been exhibited widely across Canada, in the UK and the US.
