About Outcrop 13 (Black & Sienna)

This contemporary glass wall sculpture by Cheryl Wilson Smith is black and sienna in colour.

Cheryl Wilson-Smith’s delicate glass sculptures are inspired by ancient rock and the boreal forests that surround her home and studio in a remote part of Northern Ontario. Outcrop is one of a series of beautifully detailed wall sculptures that resemble natural rocky outcrops in earthy shades of black and sienna.
Wilson Smith uses fine layers of glass frit (ground glass) to create these highly textured pieces. One of a series.

“The layers of my work represent many things but one of them is the accumulation of memories that are passed down.” Cheryl Wilson Smith

Cheryl Wilson Smith was the 2014 winner of the RBC Award for Glass through the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. Wilson-Smith has received nine grants from the Ontario Arts Council and one from the Canada Council for the Arts.
