About Outcrop 14 (Black & Orange)

This contemporary glass wall sculpture resembles rock.

Cheryl Wilson Smith’s striking wall sculptures are inspired by the remote rugged wilderness that surrounds her home in Northern Ontario. This is one of a series of finely layered glass frit (special ground glass) pieces in black with orange highlights. The form, texture and colour resembles the beautiful ancient rocky outcrops of a boreal forest. One in a series.

“The layers of my work represent many things but one of them is the accumulation of memories that are passed down.” Cheryl Wilson Smith

Cheryl Wilson Smith was the 2014 winner of the RBC Award for Glass through the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery.
