About Golden Hour

Photographers call it the ‘golden hour’ or ‘the magic hour’—that moment in time just before sunrise or sunset when the light is warm and soft. Ciba Karisik has captured it here beautifully in this pretty oil painting of a stand of trees amidst a field of flowers. Karisik is known for his highly realistic almost trompe l’oeil (fool the eye) style that often faithfully documents nature’s splendour. The colour palette is bright—fresh greens, turquoise, pink and yellow plays against the rich brown bark of the trees.

“Meadows, wildflowers, and gardens are places of freedom and rest.” Ciba Karisik

In 1985, he completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in painting at the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Art. In 1992, Karisik immigrated to Canada where he continued his career. Since then, he has produced a significant body of work and exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions. His paintings are held in international corporate and private collections including those of Brian Mulroney, Alex Trebek, Martin Short, Martha Stewart and U2’s Bono.
