A moment in time is faithfully captured in a charming series of oil paintings featuring interior scenes. This is Ciba Karisik. The Toronto based artist favours a highly realistic style that honours the tradition of using colour, light and detail to express his vision.
This ‘still life’ is an inviting portrait of a living room—the cozy couch in the background, framed images on the wall, a pitcher of flowers, a candle, a tea cup and books sit on the distressed white coffee table. The colour palette is soft—blues, greens, yellow and white save for the bright pink of the hyacinths and the rich bronze of the candlestick..

In 1985, he completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in painting at the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Art. In 1992, Karisik immigrated to Canada where he continued his career. Since then, he has produced a significant body of work and exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions. His paintings are held in international corporate and private collections including those of Brian Mulroney, Alex Trebek, Martin Short, Martha Stewart and U2’s Bono.
