About Interior Series, Chair

A moment in time is faithfully rendered in detail in a charming series of oil paintings featuring interior scenes. This is Ciba Karisik. The Toronto based artist favours a highly realistic style that honours the tradition of using colour, light and detail to express his vision. Here a wingback chair invites you into a comfortable living room. A blue vase of bright orange flowers sits on a wood table beside the yellow chair. In the background light pours through a window, a console table with framed pictures and a lamp are positioned beside the chair. The palette is bright and cheerful in blue, oranges, yellows, reds and warm wood tones.

In 1985, he completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in painting at the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Art. In 1992, Karisik immigrated to Canada where he continued his career. Since then, he has produced a significant body of work and exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions. His paintings are held in international corporate and private collections including those of Brian Mulroney, Alex Trebek, Martin Short, Martha Stewart and U2’s Bono.
