About Interior Series, Flowers

A moment in time is faithfully captured in a charming series of oil paintings featuring interior scenes. This is Ciba Karisik. The Toronto based artist favours a highly realistic style that honours the tradition of using colour, light and detail to express his vision.
Here is a corner of a colourful and inviting living room—a wild bouquet of fresh flowers sits on a wood table beside a couch framed against the backdrop of a window and curtains. The colour palette here is warm and bright—the flowers in pinks, and white in a clear turquoise vase play against the greens, orange, reds and blues of the couch and patterned carpet.

“My paintings are symbolic, experimental and nostalgic, telling eloquent stories of humanity.” Ciba Karisik

In 1985, he completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in painting at the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Art. In 1992, Karisik immigrated to Canada where he continued his career. Since then, he has produced a significant body of work and exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions. His paintings are held in international corporate and private collections including those of Brian Mulroney, Alex Trebek, Martin Short, Martha Stewart and U2’s Bono.
