About Rooted in Stone 1

This contemporary oil painting is a landscape by Ciba Karisik.

Reminiscent of the storied windswept evergreens by Canada’s famed Group of Seven artists, this is a portrait of a pine tree rooted in a rocky hillside.
Karisik has acquired an international reputation for his superb realistic artwork. This painting is rendered in a rich earthy palette of deep green and hues of brown all set against the dramatic backdrop of a cloud-filled blue sky. The Canadian artist has an intuitive sense of colour and light that adds drama to every landscape he paints.
One of a series.

“As an avid fisherman, I have always found solace and inspiration in a forest. I enjoy walking along a river for hours, even wading in it, and observing the trees around me. Their ancient language is mesmerizing as they quietly converse through their roots and whisper to each other in the rustle of their canopy above.” Ciba Karisik

Ciba Karisik completed a bachelor’s degree in 1985 and a master’s in painting at the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Art. In 1992, Karisik immigrated to Canada where he continued his career. Since then, he has produced a significant body of work and exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions. His paintings are held in international corporate and private collections in Canada, the US, England and Europe. Notable collectors include Brian Mulroney, Alex Trebek, Martin Short, Martha Stewart and U2’s Bono.
