About Crescendo III

This outdoor contemporary geometric metal sculpture is made of red cubes.

Claude Millette’s expressive architectural sculptures reflect his fascination with opposing ideas of movement and stasis, of balance and imbalance. He has often used a dancer’s elegant poses and sensual choreography as a model for his own artwork. To create Crescendo III, one of a series of minimalist sculptures Millette forged seven steel cubes that resemble tumbling dice in form. The cubes are stacked one on top of the other but at angles that appear physically impossible as they defy both logic and gravity.
Powder coated in a shiny red, the intentional vibrant palette serves to accentuate the dynamic form. As Millette welds, cuts, bolts and assembles the individual metal components of his sculptures he often thinks about how its shape can evoke emotion. And he wants the viewer to make that intimate connection to his sublime work.

“In my humble opinion, art only has meaning when it lives in other’s perceptions or sensibility.” Claude Millette
