About Equilibrium IV v.2

This large indoor sculpture is hand-forged from steel by Claude Millette. In this dynamic piece, four large curved ‘beams’ are grouped together to form an elegant composition. The Quebec artist has garnered an international reputation for his masterful abstract sculptures whose form is often inspired by natural motion. This piece is made from mild steel and has a rust-coloured patina. As a concept, the state of equilibrium is reached when opposing forces find balance. One of a series.

“The opposition between solid and flexible takes on its full meaning from the fact that the beams I make for my works, unlike the framework of buildings, are usually curved and growing in shape. Like what happens in dance, energy comes from tensions or polarities.” Claude Millette

Claude Millette was born in Saint-Hyacinthe Quebec. He studied at the École de sculpture de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli and apprenticed with revered sculptors Robert Poulin and Jordi Bonet.
Millette's works have been commissioned for many public art projects and have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Mexico.
