About Dammit

This contemporary abstract acrylic painting is inspired by nature.

Claudia McCabe has been creating engaging artwork for more than three decades, which has found a home in collections both here and internationally. Her eclectic oeuvre includes both mixed media and acrylic artwork.
In this dramatic piece, a layered tangle of fine gestural brushstrokes in black and brown with flashes of red suggests the brilliant, complex structure of a beaver’s dam. (Hence the name.) mccabe often finds inspiration for her work in the colours, patterns and shapes found in nature.
The neutral backdrop of Dammit is painted in misty grays, allowing the image to take center stage. Flecks of silver scattered across the canvas add shimmer, evocative of light dancing on water.

“The composition balances raw energy with minimalism, inviting viewers to reflect on the tension between human perception and natural creation.”
Claudia McCabe

Claudia Jean McCabe was born in Montreal in 1947. In a moment of inspiration, she decided to return to school in 1989 and obtained an Honours diploma in Graphic Design from George Brown College in Toronto.
She discovered both a passion and a talent for painting, and in that same year, she was also elected to the Society of Canadian Artists. She has been a member of the Prince Edward County Arts Council since 2010. McCabe has conducted workshops and taught art classes in various institutions, including the Fred Varley Art Gallery, St. Lawrence College, and Loyalist College.
