About Gossamer
This contemporary acrylic abstract painting is a meadow filled with flowers. The ephemeral grace and beauty of the natural world are celebrated in this pretty painting by Claudia McCabe. The Canadian artist is often inspired by nature’s splendid palette, form and design. Here, delicate layers of brushstrokes appear to represent sprays of white flowers, “evoking the quiet rhythm of a meadow stirred by wind.” The background is a wash of soft greens, pale yellows and blues that offer gentle contrast to the flowers. The painting captures a “sensation of fragility and openness.”
“The timeless beauty of nature and its fleeting moments of light and air seem to dissolve into one another; these qualities served as inspiration for the creation of Gossamer. It reflects a longing for simplicity and stillness in an ever-shifting landscape.” claudia mccabe
Claudia Jean McCabe was born in Montreal in 1947. In a moment of inspiration, she decided to return to school in 1989 and obtained an Honours diploma in Graphic Design from George Brown College in Toronto.
She discovered both a passion and a talent for painting, and in that same year, she was also elected to the Society of Canadian Artists. She has been a member of the Prince Edward County Arts Council since 2010. McCabe has conducted workshops and taught art classes in various institutions, including the Fred Varley Art Gallery, St. Lawrence College, and Loyalist College.
