About Homeward Bound

This contemporary acrylic abstract painting is minimalist in form.

For more than three decades, Claudia Jean McCabe has been exploring the dynamic potential of abstraction. The Canadian artist has developed a signature visual language expressed with colour, texture and lyrical form. Here minimal form creates an expressive and elegant composition. Against a neutral backdrop of creamy white and pale yellow, bold accents of cadmium red and black add tension and visual interest. Layers of subtle texture and spontaneous sgraffiti—fine markings “invite viewers to look closer at hidden details.”

“Homeward Bound reflects a contemplative dialogue between emptiness and presence, with the promise of discoveries yet to unfold.” claudia mccabe

Claudia Jean McCabe was born in Montreal in 1947. In a moment of inspiration, she decided to return to school in 1989 and obtained an Honours diploma in Graphic Design from George Brown College in Toronto. She discovered both a passion and a talent for painting, and in that same year, she was also elected to the Society of Canadian Artists. She has been a member of the Prince Edward County Arts Council since 2010.

McCabe has conducted workshops and taught art classes in various institutions, including the Fred Varley Art Gallery, St. Lawrence College, and Loyalist College. She has been the recipient of many awards, including, most recently, Arts in the County’s Oeno Gallery Award of Excellence. Her work has been exhibited at numerous galleries in Ontario, including Cibo’s Gallery in Toronto, the Harbour Gallery in Oakville, and the Sandra Whitton Gallery in Kingston. claudia mccabe’s work can be found in both private and corporate domestic and international collections in the US, Britain, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, New Zealand and Switzerland.
