About How can I keep from singing
This contemporary colourful abstract work is composed of mixed media. For more than three decades, Canadian artist Claudia jean mccabe has explored the world of abstraction. Inspired by nature, mccabe’s elegant artwork focuses on expressive layers of colour, organic form and visible texture. This joyful composition has a bright modern palette of sky blue, chartreuse, and mustard yellow. Pops of bright red and calligraphic markings in white and black add lyrical detail.
“Painting keeps this artist ever curious, ever searching, ever grateful, and joyfully alive.” claudia jean mccabe
Claudia Jean McCabe was born in Montreal in 1946. In a moment of inspiration, she decided to return to school in 1989 and obtained an Honours diploma in Graphic Design from George Brown College in Toronto.
She discovered both a passion and a talent for painting, and in that same year, she was also elected to the Society of Canadian Artists. She has been a member of the Prince Edward County Arts Council since 2010. McCabe has conducted workshops and taught art classes in various institutions, including the Fred Varley Art Gallery, St. Lawrence College, and Loyalist College. She has been the recipient of many awards, including, most recently, Arts in the County’s Oeno Gallery Award of Excellence. Her work has been exhibited at numerous galleries in Ontario, including Cibo’s Gallery in Toronto, the Harbour Gallery in Oakville, and the Sandra Whitton Gallery in Kingston. Claudia McCabe’s paintings can be found in both private and corporate domestic and international collections in the US, Britain, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, New Zealand and Switzerland.
