About Gaze Big Green

Brilliant colours play across the canvas on a grand scale in this visually stunning abstract painting by David Sorensen. The Canadian artist was highly regarded for his colour field paintings; a style he first discovered as a young man in the 1950’s. This large piece features geometric shapes in red-orange and deep blue that frame a central green field.

“To me, there is still this celebration worth the paint. And it’s about an open door that the artist used to call muse.” David Sorensen

“Sorensen’s large-scale paintings—visual environments in themselves— immerse us in imagery that invites contemplation; their essential elements are transmitted as an intimate impression and recollection of a lived and felt environment.”
Julie Alary Lavallée, Curator Musée D’Art de Joliette
