About Melancholy Man
This contemporary abstract outdoor steel sculpture represents a male figure.Ferhat Özgür Görel’s dynamic sculptural work has been showcased in thirteen different countries. The Georgian artist’s bold modern vision is expressed in geometric form and bright colours. This hand forged steel piece is designed to represent a male figure—the largest shape rendered in black, with overlapping shapes in lime green, candy-apple red, orange, yellow and blue. Görel’s form and narrative relate to the challenging environment he grew up in a small village on the Turkish-Georgian border.
“My themes vary according to the given conditions, ranging from political turmoil, economic crises, identity, domestic violence, women's rights, to the dilemma between modernity and westernization. I try to reflect what I observe within life, which is to say nothing emerges from a void but from the realities surrounding us.” Ferhat Özgür Görel
