About Soprano
This expressive abstract painting is by Fiona Ackerman, a Vancouver-based artist known for her beautiful contemporary work. With ‘Soprano,’ Ackerman has created a melange of images in expressive and bold form, graphic lines and spheres that swirl about the canvas. Rendered in a subtle palette of grays, white, a touch of pink and melon punctuated by black.“…the abstraction of the final painting is suggestive to me of glass breaking apart. What finally came together is a ‘shattering.’ I named the painting Soprano, a wink at the glass-breaking result of reaching a high.” Fiona Ackerman
Fiona Ackerman was born in Montreal, studied painting at Concordia University and completed a BFA at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2002. She has held more than 20 solo exhibitions internationally. Fiona’s studio practice extends beyond painting to include several large-scale murals and other public art projects. In her free time, she writes and records music and videos, often working with other musicians.
