This contemporary outdoor sculpture was forged from steel; its form is inspired by nature.

The large pine cone sculptures by Floyd Elzinga have become beloved and collected classics that now grace many public venues including a recent installation at Trent University in Ontario. The Canadian artist has acquired a reputation as a superb craftsman—each pine cone is hand forged; its dynamic form and exquisite detail mirror the natural shape. This sculpture is made from corten steel that ages beautifully and will acquire a rich rust-colored patina over time. Can be displayed indoors or out.

Floyd Elzinga received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, NS. Elzinga has been an artist in residence in both India and Vietnam. At the foot of Everest, he had the unique experience of creating art from collected waste and in Hanoi, he attended a symposium that attracted sculptors from all over the world to contribute to South East Asia’s largest sculpture park. Floyd Elzinga’s pinecone sculptures have been featured as part of Toronto’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche celebration of contemporary art, and his work is held in collections across Ontario and in the US. He lives and works in Niagara, Ontario.
