‘Landscapes of the mind’—that is how art critic Donald Bracket describes the enigmatic work of Ivo Stoyanov. From his Toronto studio, Stoyanov recalls images inspired by nature to create uniquely complex pieces in mixed media. Organic colours, textures and shapes are revealed in this abstract panel in earthy tones of black, brown, and white dominated by a swath of fiery orange.

“I am using a combination of acrylic paint mediums, marble dust, pigments and cold wax medium, resulting in a satin surface, rich with visual texture, original mood and energy.” Ivo Stoyanov

He received a Masters degree in Mural Painting from the Fine Arts Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria (1990). Stoyanov has been commissioned to create major mural projects in the US, Bulgaria and Canada. He has been admired and collected in the US, Canada, Japan, the UK, China, the United Arab Emirates, Spain and Bulgaria.
