About Vase de Bretagne
This charming floral still life is by the British born artist Jennifer Hornyak. A simple white vase with deep blue detailing holds a posey of pink flowers. The dark green and black backdrop (reminiscent of Rembrandt’s palette) adds contrast and draws the viewer’s eye to the bright white vase. The rich palette speaks to classical influences but the abstracted form and lavish brush strokes are intended to suggest the flower as a metaphor.“I don’t want to do flowers--flowers. As I always say, God does those!”
