About Aura

This contemporary abstract black stone sculpture is by Jeremy Guy.

A full time sculptor for more than two decades, Jeremy Guy’s superb sculptural work has attracted international praise for its timeless design and fine craftsmanship. An early interest in science and philosophy helped shape Guy’s approach to art as he developed a true appreciation for the ‘natural forces that shape our world’. His design sensibility was also influenced by the modernist sculptural work of the famed British artists, Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. The elegant and poetic curves of Aura are handmade from engineered black granite. “Over many years I have developed an engineered stone composite material to enable my creative concepts and produce high quality, unique and accessible work. This material is a combination of crushed marble or black granite (Canadian ‘absolute black’ granite) mixed with a resin.”

The smooth surface is highly polished so that it naturally reflects light. Each piece is cast in a mold so subtle changes can be made that make each signed sculpture quite unique.

"In my own abstract work, I am acutely aware that nature champions great design. From the shaping of a beach pebble through years of tidal and elemental erosion to the myriad forms found in biology, I am often awestruck by the beauty created by natural physics.” Jeremy Guy

Jeremy Guy was born and raised in a small town in West Yorkshire, England. A fine art major, in 2001, he graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with an Honours BA in Product Design.
