In this dramatic landscape by Canadian artist Julie Himel the sky and land appear in shades of blue highlighted with soft peach and white colours. A devoted environmentalist, Himel is known for re-imagining the traditional landscape by abstracting its form and using a bright colour palette.“They aren’t realistic landscapes. She completed a BFA at York University with additional studies at the Toronto School of Art and Langara College in Vancouver. Himel has been painting professionally for more than 20 years. Her award-winning paintings can be found in private, corporate and public collections.
