This contemporary outdoor metal and glass sculpture is adorned with mosaic patterns in blue colours.

Laurence Petit’s joyful and colourful mosaic sculptures have graced many outdoor public areas. The Quebec artist is often inspired by the colour, texture and movement found in the natural world. This is one of a series of outdoor sculptures Petit created consisting of three shiny (highly polished) aluminum poles that are wrapped in intricately detailed mosaic patterns.
The patterns appear as bands made from tiny pieces of glass in various shapes and sizes. The colour palette is fresh and bright—turquoise blue, royal blue and lime green.

Laurence Petit has had her own studio in Montreal called l’Atelier Gogofrisette since 2007. Self-taught, she developed and perfected her technique with notable mosaic art studios in Spain, the U.S. and in Quebec. Her sculptures can be found in many public areas and she has directed several collective projects for special events within communities and schools in Quebec.
