This contemporary mosaic composition by Laurence Petit is made from glass and ceramic pieces in blues.

Colour is a very important element in all of Laurence Petit’s expressive artwork.
Her joyful, intricately detailed compositions are reminiscent of the patterns and textures often found in textiles. This Quebec artist is also inspired by nature.
This composition is rendered in a series of blues—deep blue and turquoise with highlights in sunny yellow and white. Gold patterned cream coloured ceramic fragments add charming detail. Petit experiments with materials to find the perfect balance that makes her mosaics ‘sparkle.’

Laurence Petit has had her own studio in Montreal called l’Atelier Gogofrisette since 2007. Self-taught, she developed and perfected her technique with notable mosaic art studios in Spain, the U.S. and in Quebec. Her sculptures can be found in many public areas and she has directed several collective projects for special events within communities and schools in Quebec.
