About Antonia's Line (for Marleen Gorris)
Antonia's Line, named after the Dutch film written and directed by Marleen Gorris. The film has been described as a "feminist fairy tale." It tells the story of the independent Antonia who establishes and nurtures a close-knit matriarchal community. Perhaps in this painting, you can see the narrative of different characters and behavior through pose.“It’s a visual language in the same sense as when a poet sits down, and they have some sort of feeling. They know there’s something to be said.” Lynne Fernie
