About Harvest

In this dramatic photographic print of a farmer harvesting his crop, Mark Bartkiw has combined dream-like images of land and sky to great effect. As an artist, he is fascinated by the effect of slightly distorting reality to create a somewhat imaginary world. Bartkiw uses a variety of techniques to create a collage of images in his photo-based artwork. This is one of an ongoing series of photographs in a collection called, ‘Uncommon Place.’

“This remanufacturing of landscape and architecture results in objects and buildings that float in a slightly skewed space. Reassembling reality based on the experience of multiple places and locations creates new spaces that verge on recognizable but defy definition.” Mark Bartkiw

He studied photography at Sheridan College. Bartkiw worked as a freelance photographer in advertising, portraiture and the fashion and music industries for a host of prestigious clients including Toronto Life, Paramount Pictures and Universal Music. His artwork is held in both private and public collections.
