About Boar 2/8
This tabletop indoor figurative sculpture of an animal is made of resin.Captured in a classic pose used in taxidermy, this sculpture is by the award-winning artist Nicholas Crombach. Known for his realistic, highly detailed figurative work, this piece is one of a series Crombach created that explores the complex relationship humans have with animals. The ‘End of the Chase’ series was a response to the 2014 hunting act passed in Britain designed to end the historic tradition of hunting with hounds. Edition two of eight.
“Our capacity to have a moral obligation is unique to humans and intuitively causes us to anthropomorphize and morally consider the world around us. This characteristic of our nature makes us paradoxically empathize with the animals we sacrifice while sustaining human life and culture.” Nicholas Crombach
