About Albert
This contemporary figurative floor sculpture is created from papier mâché.For decades Paul Duval has reimagined the human form in charming sculptures beautifully handcrafted from papier mâché and wire. Duval’s series of indoor sculptures capture the human ‘condition’ in simple form. Each one possesses a visibly unique personality expressed as a gesture, a pose, and a mood that defines their character.
Albert is a tall slender male clay coloured figure, who stands with his arms bent, hands open (and painted black for emphasis) head tilted—as if responding to someone. Victoria’s companion, Albert, makes for a dynamic display when the two are placed side by side.
Duval says he tries to “give the impression that (his) sculptures are watching us.
Who are the witnesses of our daily life?” Paul Duval
