About Marcelo et Lucas

This contemporary figurative table top sculpture of a father and son is created from papier mâché.

For decades Paul Duval has reimagined the human form in charming sculptures beautifully handcrafted from papier mâché and wire. Duval’s series of indoor sculptures capture the human ‘condition’ in simple form. Each one possesses a visibly unique personality expressed as a gesture, a pose, and a mood that defines their character. This duo appears to be a sculpture of a father and son sitting together on a ‘rock.’
Marcelo and Lucas are both unadorned, and handmade from clay coloured papier mâché. The only touch of colour is the golden yellow of Lucas’s hair. They are posed, heads turned towards one another in what appears to be an intimate conversation.

“I sculpt in order to materialize the fantasy world within me.” Paul Duval
