He stands tall—a slender naked figure, arms crossed, head slightly tilted. This is Norbert. He is one of a series of figures sculpted from paper mache and wire by Paul Duval. The Quebec artist has imbued personality into each of these delightful table top pieces through a skillful use of gesture, pose, and colour.
“Who are the witnesses of our daily life? I also try to make the viewer an integral part of the work as if their presence only adds dimension.” Paul Duval
He is a member of the Canadian Sculptors Society and of the Conseil de la sculpture du Québec. He studied Monumental Sculpture at Université de Rimouski, casting at Maison des métiers d’art, Québec, and soldering at Cimic, Saint-Georges, Québec.
In addition to his full-time work as an artist, Duval is Technical Director, Symposium international de la sculpture, Beauce-Art, in Saint Georges De Beauce, Québec.
Duval’s sculptures including commissions are in private and public collections in Canada and France.
