About Chickadee II

Exquisite in detail, a little chickadee perches on a white branch engulfed in a cloud of turquoise and mauve masterfully rendered by Peter Hoffer. Indigenous to North America, the chickadee is known for its attractive markings, its distinctive call and its remarkable habit of fearlessly investigating everything including humans in its habitat.
In faithfully depicting this remarkable little bird Hoffer follows in the tradition of 18th and 19th century artists in Europe who often painted prized or admired animals in the landscape.

"While we admire the beauty of the work, we are aware of a modern artist asking us to consider the process and the act of creation itself. “Lynn Moore, Art Critic, Montreal Gazette

He holds an MFA. from Concordia University and degrees from the University of Guelph and OCAD University. Hoffer has lived and worked in Toronto, New York City, Paris, Montreal and Berlin. He has exhibited widely at art fairs in Basel, Toronto, New York, Stockholm, London, Milan, Amsterdam and Hong Kong. His paintings are held in many private, corporate and public collections.
