Guardian II Peter Hoffer

This is a muscular, large format and haunting landscape by the acclaimed Canadian painter Peter Hoffer. Hoffer doesnt make 'pretty' paintings. His landscapes pulse with the power and light found both above and below the ground, almost as if the landscape has been pulled inside out by the energy vortex created by his central figure. The artifical divisions of light in the clouds at once reference the northern lights and perhaps a human attempt to introduce light to a non-urban environment.
