Native to many parts of Canada, the stately elm tree is captured here in an elegant tree ‘portrait’ by Peter Hoffer. Set against a wash of green and against a soft, cloudy white, blue and pink sky, the lone tree remains the focal point. Hoffer is known for his beautiful ethereal landscapes reminiscent of John Constable’s style. The Canadian artist’s series of ‘tree portraits;’ each one appears to express a different character.

He holds an MFA. from Concordia University and degrees from the University of Guelph and OCAD University. Hoffer has lived and worked in Toronto, New York City, Paris, Montreal and Berlin. He has exhibited widely at art fairs in Basel, Toronto, New York, Stockholm, London, Milan, Amsterdam and Hong Kong. His paintings are held in many private, corporate and public collections.
