This contemporary mixed-media landscape features a linden tree.

Inspired by the beauty of the natural world, Peter Hoffer has created a distinctive series of tree ‘portraits.’ Each one evokes a different mood, and ‘personality.’
In this piece, a lone linden, a northern hemisphere species popular as a shade tree and for its fragrant flowers stands center canvas. The tree, rendered in brown, golden, burgundy and green foliage is set against an ethereal backdrop of a pink, mauve and turquoise blue sky. Hoffer is highly regarded for his romantic landscapes, reminiscent of the evocative work of British artists like John Constable. Signature markings, scratches and cracks on the surface add visible character to the work.

Peter Hoffer holds an MFA from Concordia University and degrees from the University of Guelph and OCAD University. Hoffer has lived and worked in Toronto, New York City, Paris, Montreal and Berlin. He has exhibited widely at art fairs in Basel, Toronto, New York, Stockholm, London, Milan, Amsterdam and Hong Kong. His paintings are held in many private, corporate and public collections around the world.
