About Nuthatch

Peter Hoffer’s arresting artwork is masterful and exquisite in detail. The Canadian artist has exhibited in major cities throughout the world. This is one in a series of ‘portraits’ he has created of a Nuthatch, a bird indigenous to North America and Europe. Using clay and pigment on textured white linen, the little blue feathered bird sits on the branch of a tree. The colour palette is a rich mixture of browns, green, yellow, orange and teal that pops against the white.

"While we admire the beauty of the work, we are aware of a modern artist asking us to consider the process and the act of creation itself. “
Lynn Moore, Art Critic, Montreal Gazette
