About Equilibre Rouille 3/10
This piece is numbered in an edition of 10.Philippe Pallafray’s dramatic contemporary sculptures often appear to defy the laws of gravity. This imposing minimalist piece features a highly polished stainless steel ball precariously balanced between two large ‘rusty’ metal cubes. ‘Equilibre’ means ‘balance’ The sculpture appears to sit in dramatic contrast to its natural environment and yet also mirrors it back to the viewer through the reflective surface of the ball. ‘Rouille’ means rust-coloured in English.
“My creations embody the duality of nature and industry.” Philippe Pallafray
