About Mecanique Celeste Mini

A highly polished stainless-steel ball framed by a rectangular cardinal red form appears to float in this dynamic table-top sculpture by Philippe Pallafray. The industrial, modern minimalist sculpture sits in dramatic contrast to the natural environment and yet also mirrors it back to the viewer through the reflective surface of the ball. The French title Mecanique Celeste means ‘heavenly mechanics’ in English.

“I use certain mobile components so my pieces appear to change (when viewed) from different angles. The changing elements and empty spaces in my pieces reference the creative force of our perpetually evolving societies.” Philippe Pallafray
