About Composition in Orange

This contemporary abstract mixed media composition features geometric shapes in orange and sienna.

Rachel Ovadia has been working as an artist for more than twenty-five years and has exhibited internationally. An abstract expressionist, this striking piece features a mix of geometric shapes in orange and sienna, and layered passages in soft yellow and white. Fine calligraphic lines in black provide both dimension and structure. Visible textures were created by mixing acrylic paint with a combination of stone dust, encaustic and plaster.

“Painting sharpened my senses and has given me a lot of personal rewards. I have learned to read the visual language surrounding me, which enables me to become discerning and understand the level of sophistication or lack of it, for that matter. One cannot fool the eye and the heart. The heart has its own wisdom.” Rachel Ovadia

Rachel Ovadia was born in Lithuania and studied art at the University of Vilnius, the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts, the Florence Art Academy in Italy and the University of Toronto. A multidisciplinary contemporary artist, her impressive portfolio has explored abstract form in various mediums, including painting, drawing, etching, and sculpture. She has exhibited internationally, including galleries in Japan, China, London, Paris, Brussels, in Canada and the U.S. Her artwork can be found in both public and private collections.
