About Black and White Abstract
He was known as the ‘white painter’. Ronald Bloore is considered one of Canada’s preeminent abstract artists. Known for his remarkable ‘white-on-white’ paintings, early in his career Bloore was inspired to create works devoid of any colour except white and black. In the 1960’s during his studies in Greece and Egypt, he was struck by the ethereal, bright white light that played off the clean, simple lines of the architecture there. Bloore also adopted many of the ancient pictographic forms found in Egyptian hieroglyphics—evident in this compelling white on black abstract composition.
