About Eastern Sky
This expressive abstract painting by Canadian artist Sharon Kelly captures that moment when the sun has risen in the east amidst a pink and lilac sky above turquoise blue waters. Kelly is known for her ethereal imagery that often depicts sea and sky. Influenced by the landscape artists of the 19th century, she is also a proponent of the ‘Blue Minds’ movement that associates water with tranquility.“I work with intuitive color selections, building up multiple layers creating paintings defined by subtle textures & hues.” Sharon Kelly
Sharon Kelly was born in Montreal and studied art history at Queen's University in Kingston, ON. Sharon Kelly maintains a full-time studio by the Rideau River in Ottawa.
