About Through the Mist

This dream-like diaphanous painting of land and sky is by Sharon Kelly rendered in delicate expressionist form and soft colours. Using blues, greens and yellows the Canadian artist has captured the look and feel of a mist on a warm summer morning. Kelly’s abstract work is influenced by both the Romantics of the 19th century and a lifelong love of the meditative quality of water.

“I work with intuitive color selections, building up multiple layers creating paintings defined by subtle textures & hues. Textured surfaces blend areas of random mark making with areas of deliberate natural elements.” Sharon Kelly

Sharon Kelly was born in Montreal and studied art history at Queen's University in Kingston, ON. Sharon Kelly maintains a full-time studio by the Rideau River in Ottawa. Kelly has been featured in several solo and group exhibitions since 1999. Her works are held in both private and corporate collections.
