About Crystalline Pair

Susan Collett’s exquisite ceramics are hand-built from earthenware paper clay. These two columns contain layer upon layer of finely detailed, shaped, twisted and curved pieces that appear to resemble shells from the sea. Each piece has been multi-fired resulting in a complex patina of surfaces. The glazing has rich hues of blue, cream and green.

“The work derives from interest in the tension of strength against fragility and as I push the work towards the edge of physical collapse, this theme becomes more potent.” Susan Collett

She graduated with a BFA in printmaking and ceramics from the Cleveland Institute of Art and won the institute's prestigious Agnes Gund Memorial Award. Collett is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics and the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts. She is a recipient of the Winifred Shantz Award from the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. Susan Collett's work can be found in numerous private and corporate collections.
