About Lineage Mapping

Delicate branches, roots, and drifting clouds in soft ochre, white, grey and black form a playful map-like narrative in this unique printed image.

This monoprint began with images carved into stitched copper sheeting using a drypoint needle. Oil based inks were applied to this surface that was then pressed onto archival Hahnemuhler paper. The second stage of the monoprint involved the skillful application of paint to the copper plate and a second pressing, adding highlights to the work.

"The finished prints, with their quick, graceful sketches, their hand-stitched centres, resemble pages in a tattered old sketchbook, and somehow manage to convey that same sense of being deeply personal, completely original creations." - Kristen den Hartog
