About Tableau Series - Delta

This unique embossed white print was inspired by nature and features tree branch imagery.

The sublime work of award winning artist Susan Collett has been featured and found an audience around the globe. The Canadian ceramicist and print maker is known for her singular vision and attention to fine detail. The Tableau Series is inspired by nature in form—the white on white elegant embossed design of these prints draws the viewer’s eye to the refined detail. The organic images are reminiscent of the intricate structure of tree branches and also reference the human body’s delicate network of lungs, veins and skin. Collett describes the process of making her monoprints as ‘like painting on paper’ as the copper plates are wiped clean of ink after each image is printed on fine Japanese paper. In this way, every new image is original—one of a kind.

“I do not make preparatory drawings for the sculpture or the prints, rather I hone in on the spontaneous, which perhaps stems from those early plein-air painting days capturing the changing sunlight. And perhaps also from early ballet training, where I learned about being present in the moment, and about movement and gesture. All elements I try to infuse into the work. “ Susan Collett

Susan Collett graduated with a BFA in printmaking and ceramics from the Cleveland Institute of Art and won the institute's prestigious Agnes Gund Memorial Award. Collett is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics and the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts. She is a recipient of the Winifred Shantz Award from the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. Collett was the artist in residence at the Collect Art Fair in London, UK in Feb/March 2025. Susan Collett's work can be found in numerous private and corporate collections.
